Using rotated latlong met data

Post by jncandau »

Hello,
I want to use Hysplit with Environment Canada's met data, which natively is in rotated latlong (https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/ms ... tamart_en/). I am working on a conversion program based on era52arl.f
My questions are:
1- Can Hysplit handle rotated latlong, or does it only run on regular latlong?
2- If regular latlong is the only option, then what is the best strategy between: a) converting the rotated grids to regular, with all the caveats that it will generate, before running Hysplit, or b) run Hysplit on the rotated grids "pretending" that they are regular and convert the trajectories to regular latlong?
Thank you for your help/suggestions.
