HYSPLIT Forum: hysplitbbs.arl.noaa.gov

I have tried to install the latest HYSPLIT on two Windows 11 PCs this summer, both of which were fresh installs, and was never able to get the .exe installer to work despite many download attempts. One was over a (very) secure network, and another on a typical home wifi setup. Both gave me the following error after telling me that the installer was corrupt:

Error code: 1001
System error, code 0x800B0100: No signature was present in the subject.

Both systems had no trouble installing manually from the zipped file, so I don't need help with the install, but seeing as at least one other user on the forum has had the same problem recently I thought I would bring some more attention to it.

Just wanted to second what iarsenea has said. I got the same error messages when launching from the .exe file despite downloading on a secure network, and despite getting the correct SHA1 checksum in Terminal. I was eventually able to get it to work by installing manually from the .zip, thanks to iarsenea's post!

Thank you for your post. It appears your Windows PC is preventing an unsigned executable from running due to an elevated security measure. We are actively working on digitally signing executables and installers for our HYSPLIT distributions. In the meantime, please continue using the zipped distribution until digital signatures are implemented.
